ADAM AUTO MECHANICS TRAINING COURSE SESSION IN HARGEISA

On September 20, 2023, the SOCA esteemed team embarked on a monitoring visit from the SOCA office. The purpose of this venture was to closely observe an auto mechanics training session conducted by Mr. Rashid A. Karim Saied, a trainer from the Academy for Development and Advocacy of Minorities (ADAM), in Hargeisa at Aw-Ali garage/workshop. The ADAM's ultimate goal of this training initiative is to equip individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the auto mechanics industry and empower them with the essential skills to thrive in this field. A group of 20 young men had already completed approximately two months of a four-month training course. They were divided into two groups, with each group attending three days per week. These trainees had gained extensive knowledge in various aspects of auto mechanics, particularly auto engine repair for both diesel and petrol engines, methods of fastening and opening engine parts, and techniques for manufacturing different types of transmissions (rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive). They also learned about changing springs, using various tools for car repairs, and developing practical skills. In addition, the trainer began this week to train the trainees on how to diagnose engine malfunctions and troubleshoot them. However, it is worth noting that the training program focused solely on mechanical parts and did not cover the electrical components of cars. By conducting this monitoring trip, SOCA ensured the training program's effective implementation and that the trainees benefited from it. The observation allowed for a comprehensive assessment of the trainer's performance and the trainees' progress. It also provided an opportunity to identify any areas that may require further attention or improvement, such as the short duration of the training period and the need for a greater variety of training tools
