ADAM Welding Placement Session in Borama
On November 19, 2023, the SOCA conducted a monitoring trip led by Mr. Abdinasir Ahmed, the Executive Director of SOCA. The purpose of this trip was to observe the placement phase of welding trainees at the Academy for Development and Advocacy of Minorities (ADAM) at Borama. These trainees had recently completed a comprehensive training programme for the welding course, which concluded in September 2023.
During the monitoring, the team closely examined the progress and outcomes of the welding trainees' placement phase. This phase aimed to provide these individuals with job opportunities in the welding industry. The team observed the trainees as they applied their newly acquired skills in real-world settings, ensuring that they were able to effectively utilise their training.

Through the implementation of this monitoring trip, the SOCA had the opportunity to witness the remarkable growth and progress achieved by the participants. A significant number of them have successfully secured employment, earning daily incentives or monthly salaries. The daily incentives range from $3.5 to $20, while the monthly salaries can reach up to approximately $400. Furthermore, a few participants have even managed to accumulate savings, enabling them to acquire a crucial tool - the metal grinding cutter machine—or plan to do so shortly.
