AUTO MECHANICS TRAINING GRADUATION CEREMONY REPORT

The Academy for Development and Advocacy of Minorities (ADAM) is a non-governmental organisation established in Somalia to unite and empower minority communities through advocacy, community development, and skills training initiatives.

On November 6th, 2023, ADAM organized an Auto Mechanic Trainees' Graduation Ceremony at their office in Hargeisa, attended by approximately twenty graduates who had successfully completed the program. The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including the esteemed SOCA team, project manager Yusuf Mohamoud Hussain, ex-commissioner Omar Sultan Mohamoud, and Somaliland Parliament member Barkhad Jama’ Batun.

The ceremony began with a soul-stirring recitation of verses from the Quran. Project Manager Yusuf Mohamed Hussien delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, expressing gratitude for the crucial role played by USADF and its partner, SOCA, in the project. He highlighted the accomplishments and triumphs of previous undertakings and shared valuable insights with the trainees, underscoring the importance of perpetual learning and diligent effort for success in their professional careers and overall lives.

A member of the Somaliland Parliament and ex-commissioner, Omar Sultan Mohamoud, commended the organisation for its exceptional endeavours within the community and its unwavering commitment to the development and triumph of its members. Also, they emphasised the positive impact of the training opportunity and acknowledged the support from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and its partner, SOCA.  They cautioned against the potential repercussions of improper utilisation of tools and personal protective equipment distributed during the graduation ceremony.

A graduate expressed gratitude towards USADF, SOCA, ADAM, and the trainer for their invaluable support throughout the training period, including the provision of monthly stipends, training tools, and personal protective equipment (PPEs) at the beginning and during graduation.
