AUTO MECHANICS TRAINING GRADUATION CEREMONY REPORT
The Academy for Development and Advocacy of Minorities (ADAM), a non-governmental organisation established in 2010, aims to unite and empower minority communities in Somalia through advocacy, community development, and skills training. On November 2nd, 2023, ADAM organised an auto mechanic trainee graduation ceremony at Liibaan Hotel in Burao, attended by approximately twenty graduates. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the executive director, chairman, project manager, community elders, a trainer, and trainees.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Quran, followed by a warm welcome speech by project manager Yusuf Mohamed Hussien. He expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, graduates, and parents in attendance, highlighting the significance of the occasion and officially inaugurating the graduation ceremony.
The chairperson of the academy took the stage, expressing gratitude to all attendees and acknowledging the pivotal role played by USADF and SOCA in the project. He recounted the achievements and successes of a previous endeavor and imparted valuable advice to the trainees, emphasising the importance of continuous learning and hard work as the keys to success in their professional careers and overall lifestyle.
The Executive Director of SOCA's speech was a powerful testament to the importance of the training and the lasting value of the skills acquired by the graduates. An esteemed elder from the minority community praised the organization's remarkable efforts within the community and its dedication to the growth and success of its members.
The dignitaries emphasised the positive impact of the training opportunity and acknowledged the support from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and its partner, SOCA. They commended the success of previous projects and sessions, urging participants to redouble their efforts in improving their lives, families, and community. The project manager stressed the participants' responsibility for the proper use of tools and cautioned against misuse that could lead to adverse consequences.
