The Academy for Development and Advocacy of Minorities (ADAM) is a non-governmental organization that was established in 2010. Its purpose is to unify and empower minority communities in Somalia through advocacy, community development, and skills training. On September 06 and 11, 2023 (Monday), ADAM organized a Welding Training Graduation Ceremony in their Borama and Hargeisa at 10: 23 a.m. The ceremony was attended by approximately twenty graduates, who gathered to celebrate their success. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of achievement as all participants of the Graduation Ceremony were glowing, sitting in dressed parts of PPE. At the end of the ceremony, the graduates are awarded, tools, PPE, and certificates in front of the dignitaries. Distinguished guests, including Mr. Abdinasir Ahmed the executive director, and Mr. Mahmoud Elmi Abdillahi, the Finance Director of SOCA, chairman of ADAM, Khadar Jirde Saed, the Chief speaker of Awdal chiefs, the Ministry of Investment representative, the Ministry of Education representative, the Ministry of Work and Family Affairs representative, the secretary of Awdal region Mustafa Abdi Ahmed, the representative of the mayor of Awdal, and the Trainer, entered and took their seats on the dais. They warmly welcomed the graduates and congratulated them on their success. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Quran, followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by Yusuf Mohamed Hussien, the head of projects at ADAM. Mr. Goodaad extended his gratitude to all the esteemed dignitaries, graduates, and parents in attendance, underscoring the significance of the occasion and officially inaugurating the graduation ceremony. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Allah, as well as to USADF and SOCA for their invaluable contributions. Furthermore, he extended his congratulations to the graduates and their trainers, highlighting the fair selection process of the participants and emphasizing the importance of the skills they acquired during their training. Mr. Goodaad also announced that ADAM would be distributing complimentary welding-related items, including PPE and tools, to assist the graduates in launching successful businesses. He assured the participants that ADAM would closely monitor their progress and there will be consequences for any misuse of these tools. Next, the chairperson of the academy took the stage, expressing gratitude to all attendees and acknowledging the pivotal role played by USADF and SOCA in the project. He shared his personal experiences and recounted the achievements and successes of a previous endeavour. He imparted valuable advice to the trainees, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and hard work as the keys to success in their professional careers and overall lifestyle. He encouraged the graduates to choose their career paths based on their passions and interests, rather than succumbing to societal pressures. The speech delivered by the Executive Director of SOCA was a powerful testament to the importance of the training and the lasting value of the skills acquired by the graduates. He emphasized the crucial need for the trainees to confront challenges head-on and strive for excellence in their respective fields. In the closing speech, Mustafa Abdi Ahmed, the Secretary of the Awdal region, represented the mayor of Awdal and commended the exceptional work of the organization in the community. He highlighted the unwavering commitment of the organization to the development and prosperity of its members. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that the trainer in Borama expressed his intention to hire some of the trainees due to their outstanding performance. Additionally, the representative from the Ministry of Work and Family Affairs pledged to hire four individuals: one female from the tailoring group, one female from the Henna and Makeup group, one male from the Aluminum group, and one male from the welding group.
